Georges Amar’s biography
Manager of the innovative prospection and development division at the RATP
George Amar, born in 1950, manages the Innovative Prospection & Conception team at the RATP. This division offers ideas, know-how and new methodologies, transforming them into innovative projects backed by the solid collaboration of scientific research. Georges Amar has extensive experience in the urban transport sector, as production (implementation) manager of large innovative projects (exchange clusters, service packages), and specific research in human sciences used for mobility. Civil engineer graduate from l’Ecoles des Mines de Paris, Georges Amar is also a painter and writer. He has published numerous articles and reviews (Les Annales de la Recherche Urbaine, Cahiers de Géopoétique) and several books including: “Mobilités urbaines – Eloge de la diversité et devoir d’invention” (2004). He is an internationally recognized expert for his innovative perspective in regards to the change of mobility paradigm. A selection of his talks are available online.
