Daniel Kaplan’s biography
At 47 years old, Daniel Kaplan is the Managing Director of the FING – Next-Generation Internet Foundation, a collaborative and open project exploring the potential transformation of technologies, notably when it lands in millions of hands. He also presides the European Institute of E-learning (EifEL).
Since the 1990’s, Daniel Kaplan is deeply involved in Internet development in France and the world. On a world level, he was in charge of the Internet Society members and contributed to the creation of Icann. In Europe, he belonged to the Chambre d’experts (Expert Committee) for the e-Europe programme. For 6 years, he assisted the CSTI in France (Strategic Advisory Board for Information Technologies) alongside the Prime Minister. Daniel Kaplan has written or supervised over 20 books and public reports on the Internet, mobility, “omnipresent” technologies, e-education, sales and electronic media, digital inclusion, cities of the future, sustainable development …
